On 21st September 2012, His Holiness Khalifatul Masih V Hadrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (aba) delivered the Friday Sermon at Baitul Futūh Mosque, London
After reciting verses 57-58 of Sūrah Al-Ahzab, which are translated as follows:
“Allāh and His angels send blessings on the Prophet. O ye who believe! you also should invoke blessings on him and salute him with the salutation of peace. Verily, those who annoy Allāh and His Messenger—Allāh has cursed them in this world and in the Hereafter, and has prepared for them an abasing punishment.” (33:57-58)
Hudūr Khalifatul Masih V (aba) said that some anti-Islām elements have recently made a film in which the holy character of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) has been attacked in a very crude and cruel manner. This dastardly act has caused a wave of anger and sorrow to run through the hearts of Muslim. This anger is natural and justified, but it has not pained anyone more than the Ahmadīs who have learnt from the Promised Messiah (as) of the great status of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Our hearts are in anguish and we pray to God that He may Himself take retribution and make of such people an example that is remembered till doomsday. The Promised Messiah (as) says that we can make peace with beasts and serpents of the wilderness but not with those who insult our lord and master, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and do not desist.
His Holiness Khalifatul Masih V (aba) said: In the verses I have recited, Allāh reminds the believers of their duty to invoke blessings upon the Holy Prophet (PBUH), for even angels invoke blessings upon him. The more the enemy maligns, the more we should concentrate on durood.
His Holiness (aba) said that Ahmadīs in their respective countries should urge their governments to put an end to such acts of defamation. We should apprise them of the conspiracies that lie behind such acts and tell them about the beautiful life and example of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Reacting through violence, burning our own properties and killing our own people is not going to help. As for the people who have made the film, their end has been foretold in the second verse:
“Verily, those who annoy Allāh and His Messenger—Allāh has cursed them in this world and in the Hereafter, and has prepared for them an abasing punishment.”
His Holiness Khalifatul Masih V (aba) said that a magazine in France has once again published some sacrilegious cartoons. It is unfortunate that there are so many Muslim countries that are part of the UN, but they have failed to convey to the world the beautiful teachings of Islām, nor have they tried to include in the UN’s charter the law that no country will permit the defamation of Prophets or playing with the feelings of people of other religions. Hudūr (aba) said that if all Muslims decide that they will vote for leaders who have sense of religious honour, then even worldly-minded leaders will be forced to raise their voice against such injustices.
His Holiness (aba) said:
The moral character of the people who made this film is known to all. Surely they have invited Divine wrath with the filth they have created.
Hudur (aba) went on to highlight the noble character of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and answered some of the objections raised again his person. Hudur prayed that Allāh may open people’s eyes so that they may desist from their cruel actions. May Allāh also enable us to fulfil our obligations in this regard. Āmīn.
Next Friday On September 28th, 2012 in the Friday Sermon Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih V (aba) said that when he came for Friday Prayers last week he saw a large number of reporters had gathered. Upon inquiring Ameer sahib told him that they had come to observe the Ahmadi response in light of the Muslim reaction to the hurtful film in USA. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih replied that his sermon was going to be on the same subject and he would give a discourse on what the response should be.
In the gathered media, The Newsnight reporter said that he had seen the film and there was nothing in it to merit the reaction. He also said that the Friday sermon was also quite detailed on the subject and in places harsh words were used to refute what was simply humour. Such is the state of their morals. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih told him that he did not know how he had viewed the film and what his standard was but the love and reverence that Muslims had for the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) could not be understood by him. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih told him that although he had not seen the film but one or two things that someone who had seen the film had related to him were unbearable and in light of them Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih could not possibly dare see the film. He said his blood boiled by merely listening about them. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih asked him that if someone verbally abused his father and said vulgar things about him what would his reaction be? He was told that the station of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) was much higher than this for Muslims. When the reporter mentioned the film again, Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih again reminded him what his reaction would be if someone was to say something similar about his father. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih asked for an answer in a yes or no, but none was forthcoming.
Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih (aba) said:
‘Now, the message about the true status of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) needs to be taken further and this wide coverage should be availed of. The world should be informed through networking, through articles and pamphlets about the beauty and grace of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) This is the task of every local Jama’at and every Ahmadi.
In the end of the sermon Hudur (aba) said:
The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) has inspired great love for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) in our hearts. In his celebrated ‘Qaseeda’ (eulogy) he thus expressed his ardent love for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him):
‘A group of people has seen you whilst a whole nation has been informed about [you]
That full moon that has captivated me!
They weep fervently upon remembrance of [your] beauty; yearning
And aching from the misery of separation
And I see the hearts desperately anxious in agony
And I see the tears flowing from the eyes’
The closing couplet of the Qaseeda says:
‘My body [yearns to] fly to you, so intense is my desire that it [has] soared high
Would it that I had the power to fly!’
Such are the lessons in love that we have been taught about the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) May God enable every Ahmadi to do this important task and duty and may He give sense to the world so that sensible people dismiss those who perpetrate vulgar and wicked derision and show enmity so that the world peace is not disturbed and the world is also saved from Divine wrath. May God make it so.
